Puerto Rican Heritage on a Kachi Glove

Puerto Rican Heritage on a Kachi Glove

Puerto Rico's relationship with baseball is defined by Roberto Clemente — and by the generations that came after him with his standard hanging over them. The Kachi flag option carries that lineage onto the glove.

The country in baseball

Baseball is woven into Puerto Rican civic life, and the island has produced an outsized share of MLB stars — particularly behind the plate. The Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente is the island's top winter circuit and is named for the player whose career and humanitarian work made him the defining figure of Latin American baseball. Puerto Rico has competed at the highest level of the World Baseball Classic in every edition, finishing as runner-up in both 2013 (losing the final to the Dominican Republic) and 2017 (losing the final 8–0 to the United States, with Marcus Stroman taking a no-hitter into the seventh). The Alou family — Felipe, Matty, Jesús, and later Moisés — also runs through Puerto Rico's broader Caribbean baseball network, and the island has produced Hall of Fame catchers, second basemen, and outfielders across multiple generations.

A moment that defined the country in MLB

September 30, 1972. Roberto Clemente lined a double off Mets left-hander Jon Matlack at Three Rivers Stadium for his 3,000th career hit. It was the final regular-season hit of his career; three months later, on December 31, 1972, Clemente died in a plane crash off the coast of Puerto Rico while flying earthquake relief supplies to Nicaragua. The Hall of Fame waived its five-year waiting period and inducted him in 1973. MLB's annual humanitarian award is named the Roberto Clemente Award.

The Kachi flag option

The Puerto Rican flag goes on the wrist strap or pinky at your direction, embroidered in matched colors and included free with every custom build. Puerto Rico is one of the few baseball nations with a dedicated humanitarian award named after one of its players; Kachi treats the flag the same way the country treats Clemente — as the standard, not the exception.
